This option delivers the status information, contained in the entry for the package named, from the status database. Much useful information about the package can be obtained from this display in addition to the installation status. Among them, the version of the package, its maintainer, and a brief description of the package. For instance, the command:

Description: Midnight Commander - A feature-rich full-screen file manager. Midnight Commander is a feature-rich file manager. It has mouse support in a Linux console and in an xterm. It started as a Norton Commander clone but now it has new features on it's own.
It does not use libncurses, but it uses the terminfo database. Support for XView and TCL/Tk is available, but it is still experimental. It is not included in the current binary.
